A Brief Introduction to Zengdu

　　Suizhou Zengdu (the site of Suizhou government offices,the newest and the larges t districtin China,is located in the north of Hubei Province,covering an area of 6,989 square kilometers. There are 1,650,000inhabitants in 30 townships,4 administractive offices, under the disrict's jurisdiction. Among them 350,000 live in the city, As the district. is bounded on the north by Henan Province. Zendu is the transportation switch between Henan and Hubei Provinces. There are 29 historical cultural places in the district.The world-known Zeng Hou Yi Tomb,with a set of bronze chimes consisting of 65bells ,unearthed in the south suburbs, The famous birthplace of Yan Di Shen Nong lies in the north. Zengdu has a natural. wild beauty, with 53 scenic spots in it, among them 4 GradeA, 16 GradeB,33GradeC.Dahongshan Mountains, the well-known Buddhist Temple, one of the national tourist places is situated in the south, In ancient times, a number of poets and writers, such as Li Bai ( Tang Dynasty).Ouyang Xiu ( Song Dynasty)once lived here, and there are many precious works after them, Because of its convenient transportation system, rich material resources, solid industrial foundation and excellent city facilities, foreign invesmenf has increased yearly, economic development has gone well daily. In recent years, Zengdu has become a modern industrial city with full vigour and vitality. 　　Natural Resources: The climate is subtropical with moderate temperatures, good humidity. distinct seasons and long periods of sunshine. Many kinds of minerals, including gold, silver, copper. iron aluminium. rare-earth metal. heavy spar marble. vermiculite, limestone. potassium, phosphate rock, granite tec.have been found in the district. Heavy spar reserves rank first in Hubei Province and the quality is the best in China. The district's agricultural products include rice, wheat, cotton, tea, pigs, buffaloes, bees, mushrooms,ginkgos, peanuts, dates, peaches etc. The 8 bases for agricultural productin have taken shape and the trading of products has been done on a large scale.

　　Transportation Conditions: Handan Railway(from Wuhan to Danjiang), Xining Railway (from Xian to Nanjing) pass through Zengdu, and a railway linking up the two railway lines is under construction in the district from north to south. With National Roads 316 and 312, the Hanshi express highway together, a transportation network has been formed. When the new railway station is put into operation, the network will link Zengdu with Wuhan in the east. Zhengzhou and Xinyang in the north, Nnyang and Xiangfan in the west, All townships in the district are connected by roads. Goods can be carried from here to anywhere conveniently and one can travel to any county or city around easily. Communicative Facilities: We have opened international and domestic program-contralled, long-distance, direct-dial telephone system. Ordinary families can communicate with outside world on internet.

　　Power Supply: Zengdu has a complete power supply system, A 220KV high-ltension wire reaches the area straightly from Danjiang and Xiangfan. The 500,000 kilowatts Changzhou generator, together with the Three Gorges Hydropower, enables Siuzhou to be in a superior position in power supply. The 4 transformer substations in the district arranging from 220KV to110KV, can meet the requirement of any new enterprise.

　　 Water Supply: There are more than 500 reservoirs of varying sizes in the district(4 large- sized,18 middle-sized) The number of reservoir ranks first at the same level counties in China. The water reserves amount to 2000 million cubic metres. There are 3 water-supply stations in the city. The daily water-supply capacity is 260,000 tons (but now only 60,000 tons are needed per day), mainly provided by Xianjuemiao Reservoir which has the best waterresources and the water quality gets to the national standard. The finest equipments of water-supply and the surplus capacity will certainly satisfy all customers.
